What is hypnotherapy?
It is a form of mind-body medicine. A hypnotherapist guides you into a deep state of focus and relaxation with verbal cues, repetition and imagery. This intense level of concentration and focus allows you to ignore ordinary distractions and be more open to guided suggestions to make changes to improve your health.
How does hypnosis work?
In the deep state of focus and relaxation that’s achieved with hypnosis your conscious mind is quieted and you’re able to tap into the part of your brain where your thoughts, beliefs, perceptions, sensations, emotions, memory and behaviours originate. In this state, you’re more open to gentle guidance from your hypnotherapist to help you modify or replace the unconscious thoughts that are driving your current behaviour.
What hypnotherapy is not.
Hypnosis isn’t a stage act or some magical act. Clinical hypnosis is a type of medical therapy that’s often used as part of a treatment plan that includes traditional medical approaches. You do not lose consciousness or have amnesia when hypnotised and you do not lose control or have to reveal any information you choose not to. Hypnosis simply makes it easier to experience suggestions but doesn’t force you to have certain experiences.

My journey began in the beauty industry where one functions in another’s personal space on a daily basis. Naturally people open up and the importance of being heard moved me as a person. I gravitated towards studying psychology, life coaching and even the functions of the human brain, which fascinated me, and the incredible science of hypnotherapy became a passion for me. I believe this therapy can help people to overcome the ravishes of stress, heal deep wounds, move beyond emotional pitfalls and concur bad habits. How does the hypnosis process work?
1. Resource Session
This 1st session is also called a pre-talk and the purpose is to consciously gather information about the problem, the root of the problem and the people and emotions involved. Very important here is to build trust in the process and the therapist and to help the client to reach a state of complete relaxation, comfort and ease. During this session your therapist does 95% of the talking and the client listens and lets the parasympathetic system take over, which is the complete relaxed state where your subconscious get time to come forward and work.
2. Parts Therapy
It is recommended to have at least a week between your 1st and 2nd session. During the 2nd session the role of your therapist is crucial as during this session one deals with the eternal phenomena of internal conflict that is part of all of us. One part of us wants a desired outcome but the other part of us veers in another direction. In a relaxed hypnotised state your therapist can help you navigate this to find resolution and success. Mostly, success is acquired during this session and the client can enjoy the positive changes!
3. Analytical Therapy
If a 3rd session is required, which it is not always and your therapist will follow up with you, it is typically because the root of the problem stems from your childhood. This is where the analytical therapy process becomes helpful to guide you into regression where your subconscious mind can reach memories as far back as when you were in your mother’s womb. In this relaxed state your brain activity is between alpha and theta waves and it is here your therapist can guide your subconscious to help make major positive changes to your life.
